How to connect a Bluetooth headset to a cell phone:
1) Make sure the Bluetooth headset is fully charged before pairing.
Most headsets come charged out of the box. However, if your headset is not fully charged, plug in the provided power adapter and connect it to your headset. Check the charging status light per instructions provided with the headset.
Note: Depending on headset model and manufacturer, the status light showing a fully charged headset may be green, blue or white. In most cases, the color red signifies charging is not complete. Charge times vary by model. Please reference your product’s instruction manual for charge time.
2) Turn the headset on and place in pairing mode.
Current Bluetooth headsets offered by U.S. Cellular® come with a feature called “initial pairing.” This means the headset automatically goes into pairing mode when turned on for the first time. The status light on the headset will flash in rapid succession signifying readiness to pair (depending on the headset model the flashing colors may be solid blue or a combination blue/red or blue/pink).
If the headset doesn’t go into automatic pairing mode, press the main power/function button for a few seconds until you see the flashing mode. (Note: On some models the power button is a separate switch and is clearly identified – turn the switch “on” first, then press the main button.)
Note: Headsets with audio prompts – Some premium Bluetooth headsets include an audio feature, which guides the user through the pairing process. If your particular model offers this feature, place the headset in your ear and turn it “on.” Follow the voice prompts and pair as directed.
3) Activate Bluetooth feature on phone.
Go to the Bluetooth menu on your cell phone. Every cell phone model has a dedicated Bluetooth menu. For navigation to the Bluetooth menu, please reference your cell phone’s instruction manual.
From the Bluetooth menu on your cell phone, select "find", "add" or "search". Allow cell phone to find the headset. After a brief search, the screen will show the model number/name of the headset. Select the headset you wish to pair with.
Note: In some instances, your cell phone may find more than one Bluetooth device with in pairing range. Select the device you wish to pair with and ignore the other devices.
When prompted for password/key, enter four zeros (“0000”). After a brief moment, you will see a screen prompt confirming pairing is complete. The flashing light on the headset will turn into a steady color (usually blue) and may or may not pulse (this signifies the headset is paired and ready for use). In some cases, after pairing, an additional prompt may appear on your cell phone asking if you wish “to connect” to the headset. Select “yes” to begin using the headset.
Subsequent connections will automatically occur every time the cell phone and headset are turned on and within 10ft. (3 meters) of each other.
